Simpson Desert Ramble - Spot Tracker & UpdatesTracking / Updates

Hey guy's, if your interested this page will show you how to track our travels as we ride along and also where to see the updates and photos that we post and upload for you to see.

There are 2 ways to check things out and they are the GPS Spot Tracker via the Spotwalla mapping system and good old Facebook because it's so simple to use and most people have an account (if you don't... SORRY).

Ok... so here's the run down:

Simpson Desert Ramble - Facebook UpdatesFacebook
Facebook is where we will post breif updates and photos using my (Mark) iPhone as we go along. The locations that we will be going through will have very limited if any signal, so it could be up to 3 days where we are out of contact, but the Spot Tracker will continue to track.

I'll (Mark) just be using my normal Facebook account and not a dedicated page for the ride, so feel free to either Friend or Follow my Facebook profile.

Simpson Desert Ramble - Spot TrackerSpot Tracker
I'll have my (Mark) GPS Spot Tracker running for this trip as a bit of security and also as a way for friends and family and anybody else interested in watching our progress along the trip.

Being that it is operated via the Satellites, it will show our progress and current position virtualy live! Sometimes it can lag behind by about 30mins to an hour. VIEW SPOT TRACKER HERE

Simpson Desert Ramble - Spotwalla Map

The image to the right is the map that will be displayed from the spotwalla.com website.

This particular one is from The Myrtleford High Country ride that Ken and I did not long ago.

As we ride along the Spot Tracker will send a signal every 10 mins and it will be recored on a map like this one with an Orange Dot.

The map will automaticly draw the Red Line and when you see a Green Icon displayed this will mean that we are safe and stopped for the night.

Red Icon means OH SHIT and the emergency services are heading our way.

Please Donate to the Royal Flying Doctor ServiceWE DON'T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN!!!

This would mean any money we raised would have been a waste due to the cost of helping us out and the ones helping us would be the Flying Doctor Service.

Just as an added note for your interest, Ken will have a Satelite phone with him for security as well.

We hope this explains everything and you enjoy checking us idoits out! :-)

Cheers... Mark & Ken
